Abi Bellorín

Abi’s musical journey began in the Boston area, where she grew up surrounded by chamber music and collaborative playing. After completing her undergraduate studies at Bard College, she earned a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. During her time in San Francisco, Abi co-founded the Amaranth Quartet (2013-2019), an ensemble celebrated for its global tours, recordings, and innovative collaborations with composers. The quartet gained recognition with a feature at the 2017 Kronos Quartet Festival at SF Jazz, a residency at the Banff Centre, and numerous premieres of new works.

In 2018, Abi made Austin her home and joined the city’s vibrant community of teachers, creatives, and collaborators. A Suzuki-inspired and trained teacher, she has been on faculty at Suzuki Strings of Austin since 2018. She served as the Assistant Director of Education at Salon Concerts from 2020 to 2021 and was a teaching artist with Austin Soundwaves from 2018-2024. Passionate about fostering creativity through music, Abi co-founded Chamber Academy Austin in September 2022, where she delights in inspiring young musicians with the joy of chamber music.

From 2015 to 2023, Abi was a core member of San Francisco’s unconducted chamber orchestra, One Found Sound. In Austin, she is thrilled to be a co-founder and performer with Austin Unconducted (est. 2021), an ensemble celebrated for its innovative and unapologetically Austin spirit.

When she is away from her violin, she can be spotted going for a run, making another French press of coffee, or embarking on a camping adventure with her husband Luis and daughter Luna.
